Student Book Review

Dear George Clooney Please Marry My Mom  by Susin Nielsen

This book is hilarious, intriguing and captivating. This book is about a girl named Violet whose dad left the family to start fresh one with another wife and brand new children. Violet will never forgive him. Meanwhile Violet’s mother is heartbroken so she dates a man named Dudley Wiener. Violet thinks her mom deserves better, and she thinks George Clooney is the man. Can Violet get a hold of George Clooney? This novel is a realistic fiction because it’s written like you’re in the book. I would recommend this book to people who like drama and lot’s of comedy. This is also a book that is suitable for quite young readers. I enjoyed this book a lot.

The Fault in Our Stars

The_Fault_in_Our_StarsThe Fault in Our Stars by John Green is being released shortly in theaters.  The amount of excitement in the library over the book and the upcoming movie is at an all time high.  I had to buy additional copies of the book to keep up with the demand.  Our book café meetings over the past few months inevitably revert back to discussion of this book.   This morning, one of the students asked me if I had heard the soundtrack yet for the movie.  Sadly, no I had not but apparently it is amazing and she was overcome emotionally by 2 songs.  I love how this book has evoked such strong emotions.

So, for all those TFIOS fans, here are some links that may be of interest to you:

Cross Curricular Projects are now being displayed in the Library

science project 3

The Grade 8 Matrix students have been working on a year long project.   The students must combine Social Studies, Math, Science, French and English all in one project.  The outcome is truly spectacular.  The team of 4 must work on the project, create a board and then present in front of their teachers.  Since the Library has a large space, the boards are being presented here.
