Every month, students are challenged to answer the question of the month.  This past Friday, students had to figure out their Hunger Games name.    Lots of fun was had trying to decipher and pronounce their new names.

The movie came out last Friday – have you seen it?  Which do you prefer – the book or the movie?

Our guest blogger this week is Sandra Bebbington from MELS.

Digital Citizenship has been in the news a lot lately particularly with Digital Citizenship Week occurring in October in the US. What I have noticed though is that some elements of digital citizenship get much more attention than others. This is often due to the events we hear about on the news – tragic events due to cyberbullying, private pictures being hacked and shared globally etc. Understandably, eliminating cyberbulling and privacy issues are a concern but we should not forget that there are other elements of digital citizenship that require our attention.

One of those elements is Copyright. Copyright is something that libraries deal with daily and I think this offers us a great opportunity to become more involved in our student’s learning. While we always want to encourage creation, we must be mindful of using other people’s work.

Tribute Trivia Challenge – November 20 @ lunch.  Do you have what it takes to survive the Hunger Games?  If you think so, then find a partner and sign up for one of the districts or if you dare… the Capitol.  Winning team will win passes to Mockingjay which opens on November 21.
